If you head out to any softball field in Southern Illinois, chances are you will notice a Southern Express Softball player. She might not be wearing an Express uniform, but she will be helping her school team win championships. Throughout the fall and spring, our Express girls are school rivals. Welcome to the website for Southern Express Girls Softball! Check back often to see the changes and catch up on some of the good things happening in our organization! Southern Express is the longest running girls competitive travel softball program in the southern part of Illinois. We have teams competing at various age levels: 10 and under through 18 and under. In late summer (usually late July or early August), tryouts are held for various age groups. Each team has a regional mix of the best players found in southern Illinois (and bordering states such as Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee). Teams play a limited fall schedule, practice during the winter months, and play throughout the spring and summer. Most teams, on average, play an eight tournament schedule. And most teams generally end their season with a trip to one of the sanctioned national tournaments hosted throughout the country. For older teams, coaches strive to select various college-exposure tournaments to attend during the summer months. At Southern Express, we take pride in our softball program and our softball families. Our girls are some of the best in Southern Illinois! Be sure to watch for us at a softball field near you! .
